The Kawerau Cemetery was dedicated on Thursday August 16th 1962 at 2pm and is located at the south end of Valley Road (previously Fenton Mill Road).

Kawerau CemeteryThe public was invited to attend the dedication of the berm type cemetery established on ten acres of land vested by the Crown to the Kawerau Borough Council. The Reverend W. H. Beattie conducted the Service which was also attended by the clerics Father Ryder and Smith and Reverend A. W. Dickie. Other citizens in attendance were the mayor Mr. C. B. Boyce, the town clerk Mr D. J. Wilson, the president of the Kawerau RSA Mr C. Reidpath and the president of the Kawerau Chamber of Commerce Mr A. M Murdoch. Due a bereavement in the family Reverend D. J. Kidd sent his apologies and did not attend.

Plots in 1962 cost £6 for an 8 x 4ft plot with right of burial in perpetuity.
